Hi,
I installed Kazaa Lite (uh-oh, I hear you say), and now when I press 'Play' on Media Player it starts an instance of IE and goes straight to some porn site!!!

What the hell is going on and how do I get my machine back under MY control?

Thanks.

I have Kazaa Lite and it's clean of all this crap you get. You may find it's installed porn programs which automatically start up applications that directs you to these sites. You could open up MSCONFIG by going to Start > Run then type MSCONFIG and look in "StartUp" to see if any applications that look porn related sand then disable them.

- that's not what I'd call clean!

My OS is Win 2000 - so I don't have MSConfig... I looked in the registry though, nothing's amiss in the Run section... I'm at a loss...

is it just on kazaa or on regular windows media player too? The "Thing" to do now is embed websites in files like movies and mp3s, so when you load them up it opens the website up. Is it the same site, no matter what file you play? do some files not open it up?

it probably done by a mediafile you downloaded with Kazaa. Windows Media files can act as stand-alone applications and change your entire system, especially if you have admin-privileges on your PC.

Kazaa lite is free of everything...

KMD is full of it.

Virus? Do some adaware AND spybot searches.

If anyone needs MSCONFIG for Win2k, just copy it from an XP station and paste it to your Win2k desktop (or wherever you want) and run it - it works fine. I don't know why Bill forgot to put it in Win2K.

Thanks for the replies.

It seems that it may not be a Kazaa Lite thing after all but just an embedded link as suggested above...
