Comment: Hi I've got a small problem on my win2000 machine. I recently changed the motherboard and now neither the NIC or soundcard will install correctly. They showed up in device manager as not being able to start along with a Mass Storage controller. The NIC and Soundcard have subsequently disappeared from device manager. On one bootup the usb mass storage controller installed by itself and the NIC and soundcard showed up as removable devices in the system tray. This worked for all of about ten seconds and then they disappeared from the system tray and i was back to square one. Now I have reinstalled all the drivers i can think of that are to do with mass storage devices, namely the the USB, IDE and motherboard chipset drivers. Can anyone shed any light on this problem? Reply: (edit)Did you do a clean install of your OS after changing the motherboard? If not, bare in mind that your hardware has changed and therefore you will need different drivers for the different hardware. You might be able to fix it by updating the motherboard chipset and associated drivers or by doing a Repair of the OS but my recommendation is a clean install from scratch.

Reply: (edit)Thanks for the reply. The computer crashed last night half way through a new driver installation and restarted. Since then everything has been a ok. I will probably do a clean install in a few weeks but at the moment i havent got the time. Mattmatt@webgrafix.co.uk
