Pls hlp,

I have put a win2k pc on a workgroup but none of the pcs can map a drive to the share (c drive) called sales.

You can see the new win2k pc but if u map a drive it asks for a password even tho the win2k pc has EVERYONE for permissions.

Wot do I need to do - add or change a service in the Win98 Pcs or the Win2k ?

thanks

Lee

Make sure that all the machine have "NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS compatible transport protocol" and I think the username for win98PC on w2k is not the computer name, but the login name, but I'm not sure, as I don't have w98 to test, but that's what I have to do to get 2 W2K PCs to see each others.

Hi

This is a known issue with Win98 and NT/2000. You need to make sure that each user have local account on the Win2k box. Then the user need to logon to win98 with that user name and password. Win2k check user machine for this user name and password.

I solve the same problem with win98 and winNT a few yaers back

Enjoy

Hi

You can also make use of the net use command to map the drive. To get more info on this command type net use /? at command line. With this you can also supply a username and password.

Enjoy
