I have a win2000 workstation and using outlook 97. When i start outlook Mapisp32.exe is taking up from 80-99% of the cpu. Why is that and how can i stop it from doing that??

I once had a similar problem but I was due to the fact that the person was opening more than one copy at a time. In other words, quadruple clicking on the icon instead of double clicking.
Another thing that can cause it is software conflict. Outlook is conflicting with another program. Try booting into safe mode with network support and then open Outlook. It alls fine then you know there is some other software thats causing a problem.
Now what you have to do is boot in to regular/normal mode and close apps using either CTRL+ALT+DEL or Services under Admin Tools.
