Comment:

I work with a windows 2000 domain. I made a shared path on the Domain controller with the name Userprofiles. I've shared this directory to everybody. For the specific user, I made a link to the directory on the server and changed ntuser.dat to ntuser.man. If I logon with that user than I always get the message: "Windows cannot log you on because your roaming mandatory profile is not available. Contact your network administrator."
Can somebody help me out with this?

Thanks very much!!!

Did you rename the user's folder .man as well? You have to.

example:
e:\userprofiles\jthompson.man\

You need to copy the profile to the directory using the Properties of My Computer> User Profiles> Copy to... AND assign Everyone to have access to the profile. This method changes the rights on the keys in HKCU (ntuser.dat). To manually change these rights, open the NTUSER.MAN in regedt32 (using Load Hive) and set the rights manually.

Good luck!

Did you give the proper NTFS permissions to the shared folder?
