I was wondering if anyone knows how to setup Windows 2000 Pro so that the name of "My Computer" changes to whatever the computers name is on the network, or its "System Name".

i understand that much...what i mean is there an automated service that will automaticlly change the name of my computer if you change the system name. this will be on a large scale busniess network with users who don't know how to rename my computer, or how to figure out where the system name is. is their a program...or some sort of tweak that can do this on its own???

Go to the following site:
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/370/
It's a registry tweak for different (flavors of) Windows...If you roll out new PCs, then you can set this up on your master image...and drop...boom...
Or you can write script to change the value (of registry) on existing PCs...
Or Make changes and export it...and tell everybody to import it (by double clicking)...
Another related site...
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_rename_icons.htmI tested with XP...it worked...
And search google...if nothing works:)I used search keywork-rename my computer xp
Good luck!
