I have a lost internet connection problem on my laptop. I use Compuserve, or rather I've tried to. The connection is lost everytime approximately 3 or 4 seconds after trying to load up the home page. So it obviously connects fine. I don't believe there is any problem with my modem as the same behaviour occurs with the built in one. According to compuserve, they have seen this problem only once before and it occured when the computer began as an upgrade from windows 98. Mine too is an upgrade from 98(SE). The solution according to compuserve is to install from a complete version of Win2000 (pro). Unfortunately I only have the upgrade version. Can anyone help?

The Upgrade CD contains all the needed files to install from scratch. The main difference (other than purchasing price) is that most aren't bootable CDs, you'll have to create the 4 boot floppies and boot from them to start the installation. You might try REinstalling your browser and maybe installing Service Pack 2 for Windows 2000.....
