I had explorer crash. I kept on working for a while then did a reboot to get explorer working again. when it rebooted, there were no icons, no start menu, nothing but the mouse cursor. same story for using safe mode and logging in as another user. How do I get my icons back?

I ended up reloading a saved copy of the registry to solve my problem. Nothing and I do mean nothing else worked. I tried everything thing there was on the web to fix it.
