We upgraded our network to win 2000. one forest with a root and two child domains. root is connected to child domains over a VPN. each domain has one DC and is configured as a GC and DNS. Today we had a power outage at the location where our root domain is located. In theory there shouldn't be any problems at the child domains, but no one was able to logon. Any idea? What can done to avoid this in future? Many Thanks.

Do you have only win2k clients? Is replication set up correctly? Do you get any replication errors. How is DNS set up. Is DNS AD integrated? Do the clients point to the DNS server at their location or the main site? If set up correctly, you are correct - they should all be able to log on without a problem.
