Comment:

I have a brand new PC with W2K Pro SP3 on it. Everything works great except I noticed that when I logoff with one user account, it takes a really long time compared to the other 2 user accounts I have on it.

I have a total of 3 accounts. One is the administrator and then two other user account. The admin and one of the user accounts takes just a few seconds to logoff. The other user takes 30-45 seconds, even longer sometimes. I can understand why as the two normal user accounts are identical. I copied the 1st user profile over then the other one so that they would be identical. They are except the 1st user profile is the one that takes a long time to logoff.

Any ideas?

make sure you don't have hotfix 329170 installed. I had similar problems until I removed that sorry dog. Now my logoffs are smooth.

I would log on as admin and rename the slow profile to .old and then log on again, this will create a new profile, at that time you can move data from old profile to new profile and logons and logoffs will be much quicker.

hmmm, I have read about that hotfix causing some shutdown/logoff problems. But if that was causing the problems, wouldn't it cause a slow logoff with all profiles, not just the one I am having a problem with?

I was having the same problem but only with the adminstrator account. I tried removing hot fix #329170 and now my slow logoff has seemed to clear up.
