Dear Sirs,
1) I have Windows 2000 Pro on my PC.
I have two user names (who could login to) -
"Administrator" and "vradin".
I boot my PC, insert ID and password
(one of them), push enter, then I see
during several second that PC checks ID and
password and then PC shutdowns and reboots.2) I have tried to fix this problem by
the following (according to MS article
"Troubleshooting Problems with System
Startup and Shutdown"):
a) used ERD;
b) re-installed Windows 2000 (updated);
c) tried to boot Windows in "last known good configuration" or in "Safe Mode" (the same result - PC shutdown during checking ID and password).
d) I could not do several recommendation from
that article because I could not complete startup
process.3) I'd like to advise you I have four OS on my PC:
Win98, Windows_NT4, Windows 2000_Pro,
and Windows 2000 Server (old evaluation version).
May be it can help to solve problem. Please Help me to fix my PC.
I appreciate for your help in advance.Best regards,
Vlad Radin

First thing:
Get rid of your Win 2000 Server.
It will solve a lot of your problems.
If you still whan't to run it, then do it on a separate disk.

Go to service. Set up your Windows 2k Server as start up manually. When you boot your system. Windows 2k server will not automatically start up. It will help. If you need to run windows 2k server, manully start up. Try this and let me know the result.

To Frank Lee.
Dear Frank Lee,
Thank you for your Help.
You wrote the following:

You say that I need: "Go to service.
Set up your Windows 2k Server as start up manually."You mean "Go to service" in
Windows 2000 Professional (Pro)
on my PC. Is it right?
But I wrote that my problem is:
I can not login to Windows 2000 Pro because
the system rebooting every time during checking my User Name and Password (during
logon process).I'd like to advise you more information -
maybe that helps to solve the problem.
My problem with Windows 2000 Pro
began earlier when I could not shut down
OS (as usually - Start - Shut down).
System did not want to shut down.
I had to push manually the button "restart"
on my PC case to reboot system.
I have the program "Window 2000 Tool Kit_v.1.1"
(if you know it) and I thought this program can help me.
I opened "hardware" pad in that program
and checked option "Power down after
Shutdown System". It did not help.
I also played with option "Reboot system after fail" in Control Panel-System-
Advanced-Startup and Recovery
(or somewhere in System - ... ).If you have advice please reply me.

if you are using 98 with NT4 you are advised to use the FAT16 file system.
probably wont solve your problem but this method is advised as 98 can not see NTFS or HPFS partitions.

What a mess!
my suggestion:
1) save all data on Nt/2k pro/server, by
using some software as 98ntfs (which can let you read ntfs files fron win98),backup all data.2)wipe out and clean install dual boot as
win98/2k. (NT,another 2000 is just a waste.)
