Comment:

I was installing HP Easy CD Creator Software. I got a message saying this was not the correct version for Win2000. Then my computer locked up. Now whenever I boot up the computer I get a message saying "Insert the CD Labeled Software Disk 1". It seems like the system thinks there is a software program that has not finished the install process.

How can I get rid of this message??

Thanks
Joey

Start in Safe-mode by pressing the F8 key during startup.

There might be an Autostart entry in the registry, run regedit.exe and navigate to the following keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

Check if there are any entries that could point to the Adaptec installation program, if so delete it (do a backup first by choosing "Registry">>"Export Registry File")

Check you C:\Winnt\Temp folder for .tmp files and delete them.

Restart you computer and hold you breath!
Good luck!
