Greetings. While surfing the net last night, my computer suddenly froze. I went to turn it off using the button on the tower, and it would not shut off. I had to unplug the computer from the wall. I turned it back on, and it is starting ok, no error messages...the desktop is now white, with all my icons, asking for an active desktop recovery. I cannot do that because the mouse cursor is gone. I can hit "control alt delete" and make the task box come up, everything seems to be working fine..but fo course I cannot do anything beyond that because there is no mouse.
Anything I can do short of calling my tech out?
Thanks
Cynthia

Hi Cynthia.
Try moving around the old Dos way. press one of the Windows buttons at the bottom of your computer to bring up the menu. Then use the arrow keys to move up to Settings, now use the arrows to move right to Control Panel, now push enter. Now push the Tab key, now use the arrows to move to your mouse, now check the settings in there.
If that does not help, do the same and look in systems settings. Good luck. Have a nice day.
PS. If all else fails reinstall Windows over itself, you will not lose any information or settings, this will take about forty min.
