when automatic updates are downloaded by windows, in which folder are they stored prior to installation? i want to know, in order to make copies of these files, so that they can be used if i have reinstall windows

I think the better way is to use manual downloading of updates. Visit Microsoft site and just download the latest updates to the specific folder. Good luck.
