I need to reinstall Win2k sp4 from my slipstreamed CD. I have several separate bootdisk CDs. Before I reformat C:, can I copy my slipstreamed CD to another partition or drive, insert an XP bootdisk with utilities, delete and reformat Drive C, and use the copied Win2K SP4 installer to mount Win2K? It would go much more quickly and eliminate read errors. O.
If the slipstreamed image is going to reside on a partition on the same harddrive as the C: partition then I don't think that will save time. You will have an issue with the drive needing to read and write at the same time. Additionally you will need to use command prompts to access the source and target partitions.
I suggest you just burn a CDR and boot to it. If the CDR was created correctly you will be able to format the partition you need to format. If not then your old installation will still be intact. You must use an OS based on the NT kernal to create the slipstreamed image. If your image is bad for any reason you may create more problems for yourself.
