Hardware and software that is supported by the system only for compatibility issues with older hardware and software. Eg. the ISA bus is a legacy from the old XTs and 286's from the 80's. ISA pnp is legacy pnp and is not a very good pnp standard either.

Legacy is something in computing that's old and shouldn't be there because it's so old, well, that's my definition.
