Comment:

I have an old HP laserjet 5M that I want to
install on my local network. I successfully
used the HP admin software to retrieve it's IP, and rename it, but I can't get my windows
box (same machine) to add the printer. I may just be missing some crucial step but I can't figure out or find docs on what it is.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

Reply:

Run add new printer wizard
Choose local
When it says ports, use Create new.
Standard tcp/ip ports
enter ip.

should work fine.
