Hi...ive had my laptop for over a year..i bought it off a friend...honestly..basically i've being using the previous owner's password since i bought it...a couple of days ago i tried to connect it up to the internet... i clicked on loads of buttons, did not no what i was doing and now when i turn on the machine the username = administrator and its not excepting my password...How can i bypass this and set up my old password....please help...cheers

Type whatever user name you've been using previously in instead of administrator and then type the password you've been using with that username and it should let you login. Also, your friend may still remember the administrator password so you might want to call him and ask him for it.

Thanks Curt...got it first time..i am not computer savvy..the password was correct it was the administrator what was the problem...very much appreciated...Actually i have one more question...do you no how i could clean up the laptop...i don't want to uninstall anything or have to install software...i want to delete as many files as possible...there is definitely plenty of crap on the laptop...Anyway...Thanks for your help.
