Hi there experts

I have a problem synchronising my laptop to my desktop. They are both running on W2k and connected with Ethernet cards and cross cable, and I use Netbeui. I can see the laptop and have downloaded from the laptop to the desktop, but when I go this way on my laptop to see the desktop [click on My network places - entire network - entire contents - microsoft windows network - workgroup - my desktops name] I get this error message: "The computers name is not accessible. There are currently no logon servers availible to service the logon request."

Hoping to here from you

Question are you logging in exactly the same on both machines i.e. user/pswrd, are the accounts on both machines the same and have the same rights, and is the network settings exactly identical i.e. workgroup/name, protocol, file and print services installed, make sure the connecting to machine grants the other/everyone access or other machine/user access, check security exspecially if both machines are NTFS.

There are more steps involved in 2000 then any windows 9x/ME machines. The look is similar but the guts are completely different.

Hope this helps,
Danny
