I have a IBM Thinkpad A20m with the above specs. Recently while in the middle of using it, it will beep twice, then slow down considerably - almost to a freeze. When that happens, I turn it off, then restart and is okay again, for awhile. Is this signs that the hard drive is about to go and that I should start to back up my files? Or is it other hardware problem? Or could it be a software problem? Or something else? I scanned with AVG for viruses and Spybot for spyware and came out clean on both.
