Hello,
I'm having a strange problem.. Can someone please help me?This problem apparently started after I installed a windows driver update (thru Windows automatic update)( Realtek Semiconductor Corp. network software update released on October 07 2003.)
I connect thru LAN to my local DSL service.. I can still work fine in Win98 but in Win2k I can access LAN only (e.g. LAN Chat, access to shared files etc.) but when I try to open a URL or do anything that uses DNS lookup, it fails..
Interestingly I just tried putting IP address as an FTP host and it worked so problem apparently is with DNS lookup.. I have always had DNS server and IP assigned automatically in my LAN TCP/IP properties and nothing have I changed to face this problem..
Everything stays same at my cable service provider and everyone else is able to use WEB thru win2k. As I mentioned before, I too am able to use everything fine thru Win98..
Can somebody please help me??
Thanks
Alis

I've had all sorts of headaches with this driver update. In Win98 it wouldn't recognize the adapter at all, and my internet connection died completely.
I reinstalled the drivers from the manufacturer's driver CD, and lo and behold, it worked fine. Get ALL drivers from the manufacturer, not Microsoft.
