For the short of it. When you got Ghost it came with Multi-cast. That is what this is for.

Bryan,
Ghost Multicast comes with an applet called MCAssist. You use MCAssist to create boot disks for Ghosting images remotely via Multicast. What do you need? You need to know the type of NIC in the client PC. And if you're using different subnets within your organization you will need to modify the WATTCP.cfg file to reflect the network info for the location which you're at. Example you're in your 192.168.10.X subnet, you need to note that in your boot disk. Just follow the prompts, it's straight forward. Cheers.

I have Ghost 2001 , could Ghost PE...does it come with MCAssist?? On another note, I'm getting a 40GB hard drive, my brother has a 20GB hard drive and my dad has a 12GB hard drive, how can I fit all the images on the server which has a total hard drive space of 61GB(2 physical drives)?? Any partitioning ideas??

Norton Ghost 2000 Personal Edition

By Greg Alwang
April 18, 2000

Symantec's Norton Ghost 2000 Personal Edition is an excellent tool for cloning disks and making partitions. It's also the only disk-imaging product here that supports parallel-port transfers.

Ghost 2000's lean interface lets the program fit easily on a single boot disk, so you can use it on PCs running various operating systems. Extensive command line switches let power users avoid the interface altogether. Ghost 2000 worked admirably on all our OS tests and even let us convert a partition from FAT16 to FAT32 while restoring an image. But Ghost 2000 cannot resize partitions using Windows 2000's flavor of NTFS — not a concern for most individual users. For full Windows 2000 NTFS support, check out Norton Ghost Standard or Enterprise Editions.

Ghost 2000's Explorer tool runs under Windows and lets you view and restore files or entire directories from images without resurrecting the entire partition.

Ghost 2000 lets you set a flag to span images across multiple storage devices. Unlike with Drive Image and ImageCast, you must provide your own drivers on the boot disk to access peripherals like Jaz or SCSI tape drives.

Ghost 2000's parallel-port transfer ability lets you connect the bundled cable between two PCs running Ghost 2000. The Master PC controls the creation or restoration of an image. Though sometimes slow, such transfers can be lifesavers when network or removable media are unavailable — common when upgrading from older PCs.

Ghost 2000's mix of high-end features, smooth interface, solid performance, and flexibility make it a strong choice for technically proficient users.
