Hi all, I am getting the blue screen killer with a
*** STOP: 0x0000001E (0xC0000005, 0xBA70EF38, 0x00000000, 0xE04ABFA38)
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
*** Address BA70EF38 base at BA70E000, DateStamp 3bc772b7 - nv4_disp.dll
Beginning dump of physical memory*this occurs when i am viewing certain flash web sites, playing starcraft, and also playing 3d intense games.
I have an EPOX 8kha+ motherboard w/ an AMD Athlon 1600+ processor. I'm running on 256 mb ddr ram. My computer was fine for a month and then it just started occuring.
I've updated all the video drivers and windowsupdates. I have no idea what to do.
Is it the video card? Ram? Harddrive? BIO's settings? what is going on. THanks.

Try looking in your Event Viewer for some more info on the problem and see if there is anything else going wrong. Also, check AMDs website to make sure you don't need any additional patches for the processor (not sure with the newer ones). Then you can always try reinstalling SP2 for Windows 2000 as well as your Internet Explorer. If none of that helps, start a new post with some of the info from your errors in the Event Viewer (like the Event ID).....

Hi, I see numerous amounts of errors and warnings on the event view. Some ranging from harddisk error to bad blocks to DCOM timeouts and so forth. The question is, what do i do with these? I'm very tempted to reinstall win98. What do ya think?

hi ok,
i did a clean format and reinstalled win2000.
Updated all the drivers and latest service packs.
I have an AMD Athlon 1600+ on an EPox 8KHA+ motherboard. I am running 256 mb ddr ram
with a geforce 2 Titanium 64mb ddr ram video card. I also have a 70 gig ibm harddrive partitioned into 3 drives(fat32, fat32, ntfs).
Anyway, the real juice is... i still get the blue screen of death, but this time it glitches for a split second and reboots versus the before format, the blue screen paused for 5-6 seconds and then rebooted. It's still the STOP MODE and physical memory dump scenario.
Once again, it crashes while viewing flash sites and playing games.
What to do? what to do?

this problem occurs when you are using a detonator from nvidia in conjuction with a VIA kt266a chipset (which your motherboard is running). I think this problem is also unique for win2000 and XP (nt platforms). To get rid of it try installing latest VIA drivers and test different versions of detonators (the newest doesn't have to be the most stable).
This isnt AMD fault, rather VIA so dont blame AMD for bad compatibility!

I have an EpoX 8K7A which uses the AMD 761 northbridge and I get a "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED ..." related to nv4_disp.dll. I get this blue screen whenever I try to start a game using OpenGL.
I blame NVidia, not VIA or AMD. I have yet to find a solution and I think we'll have to wait for NVidia/Microsoft/VIA/AMD to come up with a solution.I can guarantuee that I've tried 99% of what people out there have suggested. I've isolated the problem to be that of software, none of my hardware is faulty. I thought I'd get rid of it when I upgraded from a GF2GTS to a GF3Ti200 but no luck
My box is 100% stable in Linux, and I'm not surprised.

have you tried M$'s opinion on the topic?

good luck,
