I updated my computer, compaq presario 5WV282 from its original win ME to win2000 pro in july. Did several clean installs since and this problem still exists. My ps2 keyboard locks up and i have to manually shut down and restart. The following error occurs in the log each time. Service control Manager Event Id 7026 The following boot start or system start drivers failed to load, EAWDMFD. In the beginning it only locked up every 2 weeks or so, then it started to lock every week, then everyday. I have reinstalled the operating system, updated the driver and it didnt help. I just reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled win2000 last week. And it was fine for a week and then locked again. Any ideas ? Tried to change the keyboard driver but lost all mouse and keyboard controls, so changed back to the ps2. And ideas or solutions?

Try a different keyboard all together. You may also try downloading keyboard drivers (updated ones) from the Compaq web site. If they don't have any, try writing their support people and ask them about the problem. However, I'd try another keyboard (generic) first.
