Keyboard Locked up

I ran windows update and got the latest "security patches" and now my keyboard, the built in mouse, and the touchpad have stopped working in WINDOWS. When I boot I can press F8 to go to safe mode but as soon as the OS loads, it stops working.

hi,
sometimes i face this type of problem...when we do update. 1st u hve to disconect ur keyboard, mouse and touchpad from the pc and start the computer , when pc occur keyboard error , switch off the computer and plugin keyboard, mouse and touchpad and start the pc , hope ur problem will solved.

I also have this problem on Windows 2000
Running SP4 with all latest updates.
Keyboard currently works up to point O/S starts to load. Mouse plugged into USB is fine.
I am going to try USB keyboard but would much prefer PS2.
Did you manage to find a fix?

USB keyboard worked.
Problem turned out to have nothing to do with updates.
When the updates were orginally installed I used both PS2 Mouse and K/B. I moved the PC and installed USB mouse with PS2 Keyboard and got the problem. Using the PC with PS2 mouse AND keyboard... no problem.
Summary: joinging the lock up club also...but my problems are a bit more difficult. I have random lockups with this crappy WIN2K about three times a week. What I mean by lock up is computer freezes. No mouse ...
