On my Inspiron 3500 when I log in and start typing
anywhere all the keys dont seem to work. If I press
down on "m" for example it outputs 0 and some
other letters also produce numbers, although if I
hold down a key between the ctrl and alt keys with
"Fn" on it the letters seem to work ok, what is the
problem here?

Although, if I log in as administrator the keys seem
to be functioning properly

Normal for a laptop. Fn stands for funktion and is used together with another key for different settings, e.g. switching between CRT and LCD monitors
Press Fn and , I believe, F7 and the 'problem' is solved for this particular user.

Turn the Number Lock off.
Press and hold the Fn key and press the key that has NumLk on it.
It should turn off the number lock and let the keyboard work correctly.

Does anyone know how can I turn off the key Num Lk without touching the keyboard?

When I try to access remotely to my laptop the NumLk key is activated automatically, so my laptop does not recognize my password. Of course I cannot press Fn+NumLk because I am not in front of my computer, but in my house. Because of that I need to find another way to turn it off. Any ideas?
