Am having a problem with the inbuilt keyboard and mouse (left button) of my laptop. It was working fine before. The OS is Windows 2000 Pro. When I double click an icon on the desktop of the laptop a ‘properties’ dialog box of that icon is displayed instead of opening the application associated with that icon. When you are within an application say MS Word, you CANNOT select an a menu item with the left button of the mouse. The menus can be accessed by their shortcut letters (without pressing ALT key mark you). You CANNOT type anything within say MS Word, Excel, etc, neither can you use the arrow keys. However the arrow keys work when you are navigating within the menus of the application but they do not work in the ‘Start’ menu items. Applications can be opened via Start though. I have tried using another keyboard but the problem is the same and rebooting does to help. Any solutions guys?
