Specs: Windows 2000, 2.712 GHz / 1023 MB
When I start any application on my system I get an kernel32 error below is an example:

The procedure entry point RemoveVectoredExceptionHandler could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.

Once I click past the error (twice) the application starts. This happens for all applications I attempt to run.

I'm running windows 2000.
I know. Whatever else starts when you start a program is trying to use a WinXP feature. If you were running WinXP/Vista/Win7, you wouldn't see an error. You're not, so you do.

this happened about a year ago.
You're the type who leaves their Check Engine light on, aren't you? :(
Advice still applies. Uninstall whatever it is you installed about a year ago. If no one installed anything, you've been infected for about a year.

I appreciate the rapid response, unfortunately this is not just one program any and all programs respond with the same message. Anything exe file that is started generates that error message.

Vectored exception handling was added in WinXP. Uninstall whatever it is you installed just before this started happening. If you didn't install anything during this time frame, you have a virus that targets WinXP+.

"Check Engine light" Razor that's funny
actually believe it or not I am a at home software developer. I'm developing a product that has to run from w2k - thru windows 7 .

I worked on the problem for about a week when it first happened - but I ran out of time. I have cleaned the registry today, and so I guess I will start with a complete system wide virus scan. strangely, I have seen no direct issues with the releases, but I have to do a demo and I need the w2k PC running with no glitches. I will keep you updated.

If you're a programmer, then you have Windbg, right? Try opening any program in it, and see which dll fails to bind to RemoveVectoredExceptionHandler. From there, you should be able to hunt down the offending program. (I blame your AV.)

Hello everyone:

Is there any third party utility that can scan a w2k system (or any OS) and tell you which application has dll installed that does match your OS..??

12:08 PM 5/5/2012 - Hi guys I's still hoping to find a utility that can tell me which program in w2k is incompatible with the O.S. I have already uninstalled several programs including all antivirus apps - still no luck any additional help is appreciated...
