You need to have all updates installed. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your download speed. There are only around 115 or so updates total. Tonight, 13 critical updates downloaded and installed. But it is a must to have your service packs installed as well. There is a rolled up package for this. I know, because yesterday I installed Win 2K Pro from scratch. It runs perfectly. IE6 is the latest browser that you can get from Microsoft, but after you do all your updating, you would benefit greatly by installing Firefox 3.5.3. It is two to three times faster than IE6. It is the only browser I use, even on my XP Pro laptop. Just take your time, update your system, and you'll be fine. I like Win 2K Pro better than XP Pro. It's easier to work with.
