I just put on Kazaa Lite v2. I was running v1.72.
The older version would run at 100% quite often but then settle down. The new version runs at 100% all the time. If I close the program the icon minimizes and the downloads and uploads continue, while the CPU usage drops to almost nothing.
I see a lot of entries in Google about this problem. Ad-Aware and Norton Anti-Virus gave the system a clean bill of health. I can find no evidence of the old Kazaa spyware.
I removed the old Kazaa LIte folder and re-installed it. This time I did not copy the "stage 2" file, which is one day older than the file that is auto-installed.
The folders for downloads are set by default to a different location from the one I use. The program came up at 0% CPU usage. I assigned the correct location for the download and then stopped and re-started Kazaa. CPU usage shot up to 100% as soon as 18 files started downloading (or at least polling for a download site).
If I close the Kazaa program, but leave the icons with the downloads and uploads running, CPU usage falls to almost nothing.
The Task Manager shows Kazaa.exe as running 99% of the CPU all the time. We have a major problem here.

I just upgraded to 2.02. Now the CPU is at 100% most of the time, with occasional drop-offs to 0%.
Once again, the default setting for downloads was on my D: drive. I use the H: drive. When I re-pointed to H: the downloads that were queued resumed and the CPU shot up to 100%.
If the Kazaa Lite screen is open, and if the list of queued downloads is showing, The CPU pegs at 100%.
If I close the Kazaa Lite screen the Kazaa icon stays in the tray and the transfers in progress are shown. The CPU utilization is at 0%.
The status text at the bottom of the screen is too large to fit the alloted space. It is no longer possible to see how many files are being transferred.
Kazaa 2.x seems to be an unmitigated disaster. The older v1.7x would peg at 100% for a while and then back off. This version is a major problem.
