OS: windows2000 server
CPU/Ram: 2g 2g

i'm running Active directory on my Primary Domain controller, but i can't join servers to the domain. I get the error, "network path not found" hae the same gateway and IP scheme, what else could it be?

There are no PDCs in w2k. What do you have set for the Primary DNS server on these client machines? That has to be set correctly in order for the clients to find the domain.

You can't set the domain name as preferred DNS server. You have to set the IP address of the server.

Here is a little friendly advise. Do a bit of reading about AD before you try to set it up. Don't get me wrong, you need to experiment, but if your had a little better understanding of the basics, I think you have a much easier time of it.

Good luck. Put the IP of the DNS server as the Preferred DNS server for the clients in the Properties of their TCP/IP settings and you should be ok.

dear assigin IP of same class on BOth side first and then run ping command,if its reply then check domain server

Glen is actually correct. The server or servers you are attempting to join must have the ip address of the current Active Directory domain controller listed as the Preferred DNS server address in the properties of the new servers TCP/IP settings. The new server should join with no problem. Hope this helps. Keep working at it...you'll get it.
