Comment:

is there a way to have ipconfig to open when i type it threw the run command? Currently when i do so it opens for 1 second and then closes.

It works fine if i type it in a command window, but would be faster if i could put it in my run commands.

thanks for any help

if you are running ipconfig just to find out your ip address, then it is easier to double click on the two-computers icon in the tray, when you are connected to the internet and click on the details tab, it shows your ip address right at the bottom.

This program give an answer and close!, you cannot start it from "start","run"

Must be called from the MS-DOS prompt

from the run command line, type:
ipconfig /all |more

the | key is the pipe symbol (the two vertical mounted bars) -- this will display your entire ipconfig setup and wait for you to press a key to continue.

Create a batch file ie called ip.bat (or whatever name you want) with the following lines

Echo off
cls
ipconfig / all
pause

Now you can run the batch file from start/run and ipconfig will pause after displayig the info. The best place to create the batch file is in the winnt directory.

Super Play

Yeah, it sux in win2k all DOS files by default made to close after they finished...
the only way I could see is find the file 'ipconfig' in system or system32 dir and right click go to it's options and uncheck 'close window after...whatever'.
it will make a properties shortcut. that's it
after that u can use 'run'

you can also use the 'sleep' cmd

ipconfig /all
sleep N

(where "N" is the number of seconds to stay open)
