ipconfig commands all work except this one. I get an error that the file can't be found. I am using static IP. Flushdns, etc all work fine.

What I have is a Windows 2000 AD forest that does not have DNS. We are pointing DNS to the DNS/DC of a Win 2003 AD domain. We have 2 one way non-transitive trusts. If I join a workstation to the 2003 domain everything works ok, and it registers in DNS. When I join to the Win 2K domain, DNS registration does not occur. I can run flushdns, displaydns, etc just fine.

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought to configue dns that way. Is the 2000 domain doing dhcp for the w2k domain?
