Hello! and Help!

My AOpen CD-Rom Drive 40x12x48x CD-RW 4048 worked great but then all of sudden when I try to access my CD-Rom I get the following error:
D:\ is not accessible.
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

I have no idea of what could have caused this! I have uninstalled the CD-Rom and rebooted the machine. It finds the CD-Rom and installs, but I keep getting the same error message. I also have tried different CD's but the message is the same.

Any input would be much appreciated. I use Nero for my burning software.

Thanks in advance

An I/O error is something not-so-easy to fix. In your case, it generally means the laser head is no longer able to read the CD tracks. With luck, a cleaning CD will help you out. If not, you can still try replacing the IDE cable or plugging it into the other controller (if it was in the primary, switch to secondary and vice-versa). If you still get the same errors, try to install the CD-RW into another computer. If you get an I/O error again, then your drive is the problem.

Hope this helps!
