Comment: Sorry if i'm posting in the wrong forum..there is no windows 98 section..why? Anyway I am trying to fix a friend's comp. I formatted the hard drive and now receive the "invalid system disk" error Pretty normal occurance and easy to fix from reading other posts. Problem is its an older computer with no floppy drive so I cant use boot disk. I pulled off the case after taking out 100 screws only to find a "steel box"! Very old. So i couldn't connect to my floppy. Also F8 isn't working on bootup. Any ideas other than throw the 1922 p.o.s. away!!? ....I know i know

Reply: (edit)Hi, if you don't have a floppy, do you have a cd-rom? Highly unlikely by the sounds of things. If so..............Put in a win98 cd and boot from that. del, Ctrl+Alt+Esc could get you into the cmos where you should set the bootup sequence to cd-rom. Good luck

Reply: (edit)Ok I changed the boot sequence to cd-rom and got a "wrong boot sequence error"! I want to try to get in command prompt to run the setup command but F8 does nothing. How else can I get into prompt? Also I can only get into cmos 1 out of every 100,000 tries, is there a certain order of pressing the del, ctrl, alt, esc buttons. Very frustrating. Thanx for the quick responses
