Comment:

i have win2k advance server and windows 98 on the same machine (without LAN). when i use my dial up connection (56kbps) its pretty fast on win 98 but its very slow in win2k. i have also noticed that as soon as the connection is established in win2k lot of data is sent without the browser being open. this dose not happen in win 98.
can anyone please tell me if any services have to be stopped in win2k or any other methods to improve the speed of internet connection ?

TIA

Hi Jack.
Both Windows Versions should be Much the same, if you have the same programs loaded on both. But if you are worried about the amount of data being sent, I suggest you run a firewall to block unwanted traffic. One of the worst things for doing this I have found is spyware. Try running AD-Aware to see if your computer is clean. Hope this helps Jack. Have a nice day.
