I am using Win2K Pro, and was wondering if there is anything special to do to share internet with other computer connected to my computer through my second network card, my primary connection is connected to the net, and i want to use my second card that is connected to a hub for 3 more computer to share my Internet connection
Super Pirahna
ICQ: 285145

Win 2k is pretty easy to set up.....on the win 2k machine hook one card to your modem, then plug your computer into the other card and connect it to the hub with the rest of the computers. Go to properties on the card that has the modem connected to it. And enable sharing..........it will automatically set up the other card on the Win 2k machine. Dont mess with those settings.
Set the gateway on the other machine (s)on your network to 192.168.0.1 which points to the card the win 2k machine is using to connect to the hub. Disable DNS.....and set the IP address on all the network machines to auto assign a IP address. You dont need any other settings but these.....and remember dont mess with the Win 2k settings after you enabled modem sharing.
Let me if this works......I believe thats all I did. Now any computer on my network can access the internet via my dsl modem on my win 2k machine. All at the same time if you choose.
hope that helps
You may have to set IE to connect by lan on the network machines.

To make this work... Set up the host pc like undo said above.
On the client system(s) give it a IP of 192.168.0.2 (192.168.0.3 for 3rd pc) with a sub of 255.255.255.0 and the gateway of 192.168.0.1. (192.168.0.1) Is the IP that the host gets automatic assigned! for the DNS put in the DNS info your ISP gave you. To be able to share files between systems set Enable Net Bios over TCP/IP under the wins tab! This worked for me I hope it works for you!

I did it and it works... but you don't need to give an Ip address to every computer, just set then to obtain the IP address from the DHCP server...
