Internet over a network

Hi,

We have a working network with win2k server and win98 clients. There is a direct connection to the internet, via a router.

However, the internet will only work on the server, and not on any of the workstations. I have configured the proxy server in the internet settings on both the server and the workstations. Yet only the server will access the internet. The workstations will give the 'page not found' error.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

What proxy server are you using?

I use WinGate and it works fine after it is setup correctly.

In the TCP/IP properties of the Win98 machines, make sure that the default gateway is set to the IP address of the proxy server.

Wingate is a Deerfield product and can be found at:

For a little more money you could get a router that has a built in firewall and you can share your internet connection that way also.
