Subject: Internet not working... virus?OS: Win2000CPU/Ram: P3 850/256 |
Comment: Last saturday, feb 19th my AVG virus software detected the dolphin virus and quarantined it. A reboot was required to completely delete the virus. The virus is now gone, but since that reboot I have not been able to connect to the internet. I have cable internet and I'm using a Belkin router. My laptop (the comp in question) has a D-Link wireless card. One other comp on the network (the one I'm using now) has a Belkin card and is connecting fine so it's not the internet connection. I have tried re-installing the router and card software on the laptop as well as plugging the laptop directly into both the router and finally the modem itself. Still, I don't get any error messages, just no connection available. The cable is good, too, I have checked it with other computers. I have Spybot S&D, AVG anti-virus, RegistryFix, and Spy Sweeper on the laptop so I am fairly confident that it was clean. Since installing those programs I had fixed over 800 problems that I had before and I had a good, clean, fast connection since then for about 2 months before this latest problem happened. I am wondering if there is a problem with the registry and also I have a network add-in in the hardware manager called "Deterministic Network Enhancer Miniport" that I don't remember seeing before. Is that legit? Also I can't find any info about the dolphin virus affecting internet connections. Any help would be great!
