i have internet explorer 6, and i whenever i click on a link that has to open up in a new window, it never works. like a new window doesn't open up, i've tried installing it again with service pack 1 and it works in a wierd pattern. when i reinstall it lets me open up a new window, but after that ONE it doesn't let me do it again, and it comes up with an error about an rpc server. if someone can help me out than that would be great thanks.

Here's the Microsoft article on this. Sounds like the fix is to install the latest service pack.
It states service pack 2 corrected this, and they provide a link, but SP4 is available now - that's what you should go with obviously.
Here's the link to the article:

I recently got rid of a ton of spyware on my computer using "Search & Destroy Spybot" spyware remover. After doing so, Internet Explorer 6 has failed to operate. I can't get onto the internet at all! I can use Outlook Express to get email with no problem, but cannot log on the internet with Internet Explorer. (I am using a friend's computer to send this message). I have tried reinstalling Internet Explorer several times to no avail. I'm afraid I may have deleted an important .dll (or something like that) with the removal of the spyware which had infested my computer through the internet. I do not know how to fix this problem without reformatting my entire drive and reinstalling Windows (eeeek!) so please help! I am running Windows XP Pro. Any suggestions are truly welcome.
