Recently my explorer got infected with BKDR_SDBOT. I followed the instructions to clean an iexplore.exe file. After cleaning the file, whenever I run the explorer, I get the following message:
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\program files\internet explorer\explore.exe.
Abnormal program termination."

Then when I press OK, the Explorer closes and I lose whatever I was doing.

I'm trying, unsuccessfully, to uninstall Interner Explorer and to reinstall it again, from scratch. It does not uninstall completely and I still have the above problem.

Can someone help me with the uninstallation procedure. Pleese!!!!!!!! I probably have to get into regedit to get rid of everything.

A lot of times when you uninstall a program it only takes away the visual signs of it. I have never seen a registry entry removed (even though most uninstall progs say they do)... and virtually never see the directory deleted. sometimes the files are even left in there as well. IE is intergrated into win kinda deep... so there could be a lot of shared files that make this a little more difficult than most programs... not to mention registry entries...
I would first make sure that the directory is toast after the uninstall.. just to make sure that a new file is being used in an install... if that does not work then I would try removing the Internet Explorer reg entry under hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\ .. however there are also keys for IE and IE setup .. so not sure if that will help you ... but try... and remember to back up your registry before you do so! ;)

not as simple as toasting the Symantec key so you can use the 15 day trial again.. lmao

good luck

To remove Internet explorer download the internet explorer eradicator from here:
http://www.litepc.com/ieradicator.html
This will completely remove IE and Outlook express then you can do a clean install of version 6.
