Put a clean install of Win2k SP1 on my Compaq PIII 500 computer at work (reformatted hard drive to NTFS) that is connected by 10/100 NIC to hub connected to NT4 server & Netopia DSL router. I can see the network & server just fine but get "cant find server or DNS error" when I run Internet Explorer. I can send and receive internet and intranet e-mail just fine via Outlook connected to Exchange server running on the NT4 server. Quite simply, I have no internet access where I did when my computer was running NT4. Nothing else seems to be wrong with my computer. Everyone else in our office is running NT4 and has internet access and I can log on with my username & password to another machine and access the internet. Our outside computer vendor has no clue. We have two other Win2k machines connected to the network and they work just fine and can access the internet. Tried emulating their setup but doesn't matter. Both are brand new notebooks whereas my computer was new in December 2000. Could I have a bios problem?

IE 5.5 fixed some LAN-based connection problems, did you try upgrading?

I've tried the Win2000 repair method, but it didn't work. Nor did trying to uninstall and reinstalling IE 5.5

I have a problem in which I find that I am now unable to view certain pages that were no problem previously. One in particular is an https page - I have made the basic checks as recommeneded on the microsoft support page but to no avail. I get the message 'can't find server'.
