Comment: Recently bought new components for a new computer. I'm using a abit KT7/KT7-Raid Motherboard, brand new. Using an adaptec 2940W scsi adapter, new ibm 36gig scsi hdd, and a yamaha scsi cdrw . Everything is coming up ok. I boot from floopy, runs win2k setup alright. Loads basic configuration files ok, asks to reboot, but when it reboots, it won't boot but anything except the floppy, and I need it to boot from the IBM hdd. In the bios i have the first boot as floppy, second scsi, and third scsi. On my old comp.. I could set the first boot as the C drive, which was convienent. Am I doing something wrong, need a diff setting? Thanks, Ryan

Reply: (edit)I had a similiar problem with a new hard drive. Seems that Win2K is not good at editing the boot record. Try fixmbr using the Recovery console. If that does not work, format the drive, boot up using a Win98 setup disk and perform sys c: and then install Win2K. Hope this helps
