Hi,
Just wondered if anyone here has any experience installing Windows 2000 on a Compaq Presario (5100ca), which comes with Compaq's version of Windows ME.
I Downloaded the 2000 drivers from Compaq (sound, video, keyboard, modem), and put them on a CD.
This may be a stupid question, but what I wanted to know is whether or not I should get rid of the "D" drive (Compaq's recovery drive, I guess), using Partition Magic, before formatting the "C" drive, and istalling Windows 2000.
Thanks,
Jim

I actually have a compaq presario laptop (1210ca). I didn't delete the D: drive and I am glad I didn't. WIn2000 uses the drive to keep all backed up and temp files. I wouldn't delete the partition if I were you!
One thing I will say is that make sure you have all win me files and programs removed that are not compatible before you install win2000, especially if you are installing win2000 pro and changing to NTFS.
