Comment: Hello i tryed to install win 2000 pro by booting from a cd but all it does is give me a black screen with a line ( _ ) flikering at the top left.

Reply: (edit)Have you set bios to boot from CD? Have you run the chkupgrd.exe util (on the CD)? It generates a report on the system re what is/isn't OK for W2K?

Reply: (edit)Last response advised you to check Bios. If you don't know how, then let me know. However, if that is not the problem, it depends on which version of CD you have. Most dependable solution, if all else fails, is to use a Win98 startup disk, fdisk your drive, format /s the drive, then put your CD in. The setup will then start and will install without any problems.
