I want to install two operating systems onto my pc, win 2000 and win 98. I have two hard disks, a 40GB and a 30GB. Firstly i install win 2000 on the 40gb and win98 on the 30gb. The 40gb is the primary drive so it always boots of that but if i want to access win 98 i have to change the boot device to the 30gb drive throught the bios to access it. I have also tried partitioning the primary drive into to halfs so i can install win 2000 and win98 on the same drive but i can only select one partition as active to boot from. Does anyone know how i can choose which operating system to boot from on any partition or disk when the computer starts up.

You should install first windows 98 then after that you can install windows 2000 but not the opposite .... So you have to remove the partions you made by fdisk utility after booting from a boot disk then create by fdisk one partition for each disk or more then install win98 on the first(Fat32) and then installing on the other disk windows 2000 (NTFS) so in win2000 you can see both disks but in win98 you will see just Fat32 disk....or you can install both OS's on one disk on different partitions or on the same partition but it should be formatted by Fat32...........

Hi, First install 98 on the first disk . Make it FAT32 . Then install windows 2000 onto the second disk . If you want to see both disks from both OS's format disk for w2k as FAT32 too . W2k will recognize 98 installation and will add a raw for it to boot menu ( boot.ini file ). You can change sorting from win2000 . To do so : right click on my Computer ,properties , advanced ,startup&recovery ,default operating system .
Summary: If you haven't already 'done the deed' and installed the other two OS's.. make the ERD for W2K installation as is. Then if '98/ME mi-behave and overwrite/replace the NT boot-loader, you can use the ER...
