I have uninstall my tcp/ip then reinstall it. After reinstallation, I cannot get any ip from the DHCP and always get the autoconfigured IP. After I disable the autoIPconfiguration in the registry, I still cannot get any ip from the dhcp, I will get the following error message:an operation was attempted on something that is
not a socket

How did you disable the Automatic Private IP Addressing feature?

It sound like the TCP/IP stack isn't bound to the NIC. To verify, put in a static address, subnet mask and gateway, near the end of the range of what the DHCP offers. Ping localhost, then ping that address. If neither work, reloaded the NIC drivers. If both work, ping another machine on the internal network. If that works, ping your DHCP server.

Post back your ping results and we'll go from there.
