I was wondering if there is a way to setup something on the server to update all of the workstations (about 30) with service packs or other upgrades. Do I have to go around to all of the machines and physically configure them or is there a way to do it from the server. Thx

It depends on what you are running on your server. If you have Active Directory, you can assign a program or service pack to update when a user logs on (or you can assign it to the computer).
If you don't have AD, you may have the ability to create a batch file that runs in the startup folder. You will have to remove it from the startup folder after the person reboots or it will run everytime a user logs on and be a headache.
The batch file would be something simple like:
c:\update_File.exe(or msi)
Then you have to have administrator rights to put the batch file in the users startup directory. It would be a little monotonous but I had to do it prior to setting up Active Directory. You logon to their harddrive through explorer by typing \\computername\c$\Documents and Settings\User_Name\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
or easier is
\\computername\c$\Documents and Settings\AllUsers\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Here's a link to www.technet.com for more info about the Active Directory way. I've only had to use it 2 times.http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/en/server/help/default.asp?url=/windows2000/en/server/help/sag_adeconcepts_02.htm
Good luck - Vanessa
