I have a dual boot system with Win98/Win2K. 98 is on the first hard drive (c:) and 2K is on the second hard drive (d:). How should i go about installing programs like winzip, winrar and others that i will want to have running on both OS's. I read on another web site that i should install the programs on both OS's in the same directory i use for the first installation. For example if i install winzip in win98 i would install it to c:\Program Files then boot up win2k and install it again in the same dir. Is this the correct procedure for a dual boot system using 2 hard drives or can i get away with installing winzip in c: for win98 and drive d: for win2k.
Thanks

I have a dual boot going myself only its WinMe/2000. I only use the winme for gaming so very few programs are installed. And just install all progs on win2k partition. I tried installing progs to both OS before, but it is Alot of time to install to both. So I think its better just to install to one partition or disk and files dont get overwritten or replaced.

I have win98 and win2k and I had to access a lot of programs in both for awhile. I installed them on my largest drive and then installed it again in the other OS to the same drvie/directory. Didn't hurt a thing. No different than re-installing it to fix/repair if you just had one OS.

Got a better idea, create a partition in fat format, use that for programs. In 98 install them in Program File folder there...you could also make separate folders for each os

hey, that IS a good idea. I could use c: for the win98 install and d: for 2k then use e: to install all my programs for both OS's using different folder for the corresponding OS...i.e E:\Program Files\Winzip98
E:\Program Files\Winzip2k or
E:\Program Files\Win98\Winzip
E:\Program Files\win2k\WinzipThanks, don't know why i couldn't have seen that option.
P.S. if anyone knows of any probs that this may cause with the registry, please let me know
