WINNT.EXE

Big problems I have XP home on C and have ceeated a partition on D of 8gb.

Now after running WINNT.exe I get this message.

"""windows req HD volume with at least 821 MB
OF free space.setup will use part of this space for storing temp files during installation,
the drive must be on premantly attached local HD SUPPOORTED by windows.
Setup was unable to locate with req with the amount of free space
Setup cannot and will exit.

Doesn't sound like you copied the W2K's I386 folder to the d: drive and ran winnt from their.

You can not run w2k install FROM WITHIN XP.

Either boot via the bios or a boot diskette with cdrom support. Copy the i386 folder from the cd to the d: drive. Go to that folder d:\i386 and run winnt to start the w2k install.

I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU BACKUP THE ROOT FILES NTLDR AND NTDETECT TO A BACKUP FOLDER ON THE C: DRIVE. ONCE YOU HAVE INSTALLED W2K YOU WILL BOOT DIRECTLY TO W2K ONLY. ONCE IN COPY THESE FILES BACK TO THE ROOT OVERWRITING THE W2K VERSIONS WITH THE XP VERSIONS. SHUTDOWN AND REBOOT. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BOOT BOTH NOW.
